Climate Change and the Resiliency of Filipinos

    The Philippines, a very blessed country with natural beauty but amidst its beautiful features Philippines is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. From strong typhoons and rising sea levels to extreme heat and flooding. This environmental changes are destroying the lives and livelihoods of thousands nor millions of Filipinos. But what lies behind this scary transformation that can end lives and affect livelihoods?

   Deforestation, rising of sea levels, improper waste management, and excessive use of fossil fuels which is carbon dioxide have contributed significantly to global warming, which affect the weather pattern in our country also in the whole wide world. Urbanization without proper planning has led to clogged canals or waterways, that affect or making the flood more worse during typhoons. Additionally, the loss of biodiversity due to illegal logging and mining activities makes our country more vulnerable to disasters.


   Amidst these challenges that striking our country, giving up is not the spirit of each Filipinos. The resiliency spirit shines and it become synonymous to every Filipinos identity. From grassroots initiatives such as tree-planting in every communities which is drives to the adoption of renewable energy sources like solar power that people may use. In areas where disasters are very prone, governments are investing in disaster preparedness programs to reduce casualties and economic losses during calamities.


   While resilience is admirable is our country, this is not enough to address the causes of climate change. Environmental laws,strict enforcement of laws and global cooperation are essential to preserve and love the Philippines future and future endeavours. As Filipinos who love our country, we can contribute by reducing our waste, conserving energy and advocating different sustainable practices. Together, we Filipinos can ensure that the fight against climate change will not a barrier to make our
earth become brown. The battle against this is not just for survival but also a commitment and love towards a brighter, greener and more sustainable future for everyone.
